We attended the Wines of Chile Festival in the
Distillery District, Toronto. It was an interesting evening and we
were able to sample some lovely wines that aren't yet available in
Ontario. We were particularly interested in trying the various
Carmenere - which has been called 'Merlot on steriods'. The room was
crowded with wineries and with participants and was well worth the
trip into Toronto.
Peg's favourite straight Carmenere was from Vina Apaitagua -
Carmenere Reserva 2006. Our favourite blend was Vina Caliterra's
Carmenere / Malbec Tributo Edicion Limitada 2006. Dave
finished the evening with a Sauvignon Blanc Late Harvest 2005
from Concha y Toro and Casa de Gorchs' Fresita Sparkling Wine
that was enfused with Strawberry.

When we closed at 4pm we headed down to Aurora for the Rotary Club's
annual ribfest. Music, sun and great food - hope you made it too.

Wine and Dine by the Lake - Burlington's Ultimate Summer Party was
wet and muddy. But fun.
Thursday July 17 The Riesling Experience at Brock University
was amazing. We tried some very nice Rieslings, enjoyed a wonderful
luncheon and listened to speakers from France, Germany, US (Finger
Lakes) and even someone from Brock University.
Canadian Cancer Society's
Relay For Life was held on June 20-21 at Pickering
College in Newmarket. It was a huge success! We helped with
registration as we have in past years, if you've never participated,
keep it in mind for next year.
Big Bike for Heart and Stroke
We volunteered in
Keswick Sunday June 1st with Heart and Stroke, Dave manned the BBQ
and Peg helped with registration. The location sponsor - Crate's
Marina - were AWESOME. Dave even got a chance to ride the Big Bike
with their team.
